National Gallery of Canada
Created in 1880, the National Gallery of Canada is among the oldest of Canada's national cultural institutions. Its current status as a federal Crown Corporation dates from 1990, when the Museums Act was proclaimed.
The gallery features a growing collection of Indigenous Art works by Canadian icons such as Norval Morrisseau, Daphne Odjig, Rebecca Bellmore, Carl Beam and Brian Jungen. Their entire collection consists of nearly 40,000 works of art. They feature travelling exhibitions and education programs. A fee is required for both permanent collections and touring shows.
