Established in 1890, the Cocoran College of Art & Design is Washington’s only four-year accredited fine art institution.
The Corcoran College of the Arts is affiliated with the Corcoran Gallery of Art, which is Washingtons' first and oldest art museum and is one of only three museum-college partnerships in the nation.

The College has two buildings. The Downtown location houses fine art facilities, the fine art photography and photojournalism facilities. A second building is located in Georgetown, housing the Digital Media and Graphic Design programs.

The Corcoran College of Art + Design has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1985. The College is also an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the Government of the District of Columbia Educational Licensure Commission licenses the College to grant AFA, BFA and MA degrees.
