The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) offers hundreds of studio art, design, and liberal arts classes for students to choose from, and move easily between. Hands-on studio opportunities at SAIC range from the traditional—bronze foundries, ceramic kilns, figure modeling, oil painting, and weaving looms—to the contemporary, using high-definition digital video camcorders, robotics, computer controlled woodworking routers, holography, and digital looms.

The
School of the Art Institute of Chicago is considered one of America's leading art institutes.
The school is affiliated with the museum with the same name, the Art Institute of Chicago. Established in 1866, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago graduate programs have consistently been ranked in the top three in the country since the start of the "America's Best Graduate Schools" survey by U.S. News & World Report.
In a survey conducted by the National Arts Journalism Program at Columbia University, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago was named the “most influential art school” by art critics at general interest news publications from across the United States (www.saic.edu).
