Established in 1895, the Eastern Illinois University has been consistently ranked in the top tier of Midwest colleges and universities in its class by U.S. News and World Report. Eastern is also one of The Princeton Review's Best Midwestern Colleges (www.eiu.edu).
Consisting of the Departments of Art, Communication Studies, English, Foreign Languages, History, Journalism, Music, Philosophy, Theatre Arts, along with the study areas of African-American Studies, Social Science Studies and Women's Studies, the Tarble Arts Center and the Doudna Fine Arts Centre, the College of Arts and Humanities offers a well-rounded curriculum both in the creative and performing arts and in the humanities. The Doudna Fine Arts Center also houses EIU's departments of Art, Music and Theatre Arts, and the office of the Dean of Arts & Humanities.
The Art Department is an accredited member of the National Association Of Schools of Art & Design. The Theatre Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre .
