Purchase College is comprised of The School of Arts, The Liberal Arts and Sciences department, and the School of Liberal Studies and Continuing Education. The School of the Arts is the only public arts college in the country with four programs based upon conservatory training in dance, music, theatre & film.
In 2007 over 3,600 applicants applied for 295 freshmen admission slots in the four arts programs, over 10,000 applicants to the College as a whole for only 750 slots. The 500 acre campus includes The Performing Arts Center, a four-theater complex considered one of the finest of its kind on the East Coast.
Princeton Review named Purchase College as one of the "Best 361 Colleges." The College is also included in America's Best 100 College Buys, the Unofficial Biased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges, and it is one of the 151 colleges in the Princeton Review's Best Northeastern Regional Colleges.
