The University of Tulsa is a private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, which founded the school in 1894.

The University of Tulsa is 83rd among national doctoral universities in U. S. News & World Report's 2009 edition of America's Best Colleges (www.utlsa.edu). Among private schools listed in the top 100, TU ranked 47th in the 2009 guidebook. Classes are small, with a student-faculty ratio of 11-1.

TU's Henry Kendall College of Arts & Sciences includes (amongst others), the School of Art, the School of Music and the Theatre Department.
TU's School of Art delivers the Third Floor Design internship program that provides opportunities for students to work on professional projects from the Tulsa non-profit community. The School of Music is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
Also available at the University of Tulsa is a film studies program, an arts management program and a creative writing program.
