The University of South Carolina, Columbia is the flagship institution of the University of South Carolina system. The Universitys' College of Arts & Sciences offers programs in studio arts, media arts, art education, dance, theatre and art history.

Founded in 1801, the Columbia campus of the University of South Carolina (USC) occupies over 359 acres and offers over 350 degree programs.
The College of Arts & Sciences is made up of 22 departments including the Department of Art and the Department of Theatre and Dance.
The Art Department has an impressive 85,000 -square-foot facility designed for the study and creation of the visual and media arts. The Department of Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
The Department of Theatre and Dance includes three fully-equipped theatres. Longstreet Theatre is the best arena theatre in the southeast. Renovated Drayton Hall is the main proscenium theatre and the black-box theatre offers room to experiment.
The Department of Theatre and Dance is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre and the University/Resident Theatre Association, and is affiliated with the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C.
