Founded in 1890, The University of North Texas has been delivering art programs since 1894. As well as the College of Visual Arts, the University is home to the College of Music which is the largest music school in the nation, according to 2007 enrollment numbers.
The Department of Art Education and Art History prepares more art teachers each year than any other university in Texas. The University of North Texas Art Education Doctoral Program is nationally ranked #13 in

North America (www.unt.edu).
The School of Visual Arts is home to the Texas Fashion Collection; a museum with a collection of over 15,000 articles of historic clothing and accessories, including clothing by designers such as Dior and Balenciaga.
As of 2007, the University of North was accredited by the National Association of Schools of Design. They are also accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
