The Leeds College of Art has been around for over 150 years and has a reputation of being a friendly place due it is relatively smaller size than the traditional univeristy campus. The school is located over two sites. The first is the City Centre Building at Vernon Street, close to Millennium Square, the Leeds City Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute. The second is the Blenheim Walk Building, situated opposite the University of Leeds.


The College takes a vocational approach as its foundation, and apparently teachers are approachable and work closely with their students.They offer over several full-time BA (Hons) courses over three years. Most of the assessment is based on coursework. They also offer diplomas and short courses.
The school has approximately 1,400 enrolled full-time students. The Leeds College of Art also accepts international students and have comprehensive information for international students on their website. The college is reputed to be well resourced in its support of students gaining experience in their industry of interest. Students have won both national and international awards.
The College is a member of the United Kingdom Arts and Design Institutions Association.
